Gather all the stuff that needs to be packed in one place.
Packaged boxes should always weigh less than 50 pounds.
Stuff the gaps in boxes with small or extra items like scarves, socks, pillow cases, etc.
Pack all the small items in smaller-sized boxes and label each box accordingly.
Make sure to make an inventory list of each box and the contents in it. It helps to make claims if your luggage goes missing or gets damaged during the move.
Keep all your clothing in dresser drawers and tape the drawers.
Pack your most important items in a separate box. This box should contain all the items which you would require first and foremost after arriving at the new place.
All the important documents and other items should be kept with you. Do not ever rely on the transportation company regarding the safety of your most important documents and belongings as well.
Pack and keep each and every item where they belong. For example – pack the items of your silverware together so that you will not have to look for each and every piece of silverware separately and waste your precious time later.
Tape all the screws, bolts, etc with their respective furniture so that you don’t have to look out for such small items later.
Keep the tools and other equipment that you require to reassemble the furniture in a separate box and mark it accordingly.
Ensure that you keep all the packed boxes of a single room together so that it would be easier for you to sort out the contents after reaching the new home.
Remember to divide various packing tasks among your family members so that each individual shed less time and energy to execute the relocation.
